Question Number 1: Skin grafts - for periods April 2020- March 2021 and April 2018- March 2019 • Does Salisbury Hospital carry out skin graft surgeries? • If yes, how many producers are carried out (monthly / annually) and the reason for the skin graft? • What is the type of graft used and what ‘material’ is used? e.g. is it human, animal or synthetic and whether it is a permanent or temporary graft • On average what is the cost of the surgery? Preferably with a breakdown of theatre, surgeons, nurses, other staff, medication, equipment costs. • What is the failure rate of the different skin graft procedures? And the reason for failure? | |

Question Number 2: Wounds and Dressings: for periods April 2020- March 2021 and April 2018- March 2019 • How many chronic wounds does Salisbury Hospital treat? (monthly / annually) • What is the main cause of these wounds? Eg. venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetes, burns etc. • What are the main dressings used to treat these wounds, manufacturers and the costs per dressing? • Do these dressings contain any antibacterial components, analgesic or features to help with high exudate levels? • On average what is the changing frequency of these dressings until they are no longer required or the wound has healed? • What are the additional costs to treat these wounds? E.g. nurse costs per visits or dressing change, in and outpatient costs, assessment costs, clinic costs and costs of any additional medication such as antibiotics to help treat the wound • What is the average healing time for the different types of wounds? Is this affected by the type of dressing used, age of patient etc? | |

Question Number 3: 3D Printing and applications: • Following from an article in 2014 which mentioned Salisbury Hospital and its use of 3D printed models to test implants and help surgeons practise procedures before operating. Has the hospital continued to use 3D printing? And if yes, what are the applications? • Does the hospital have a dedicated department for 3D printing or does it use an external body to manufacture the models. If it is the latter, which manufacturers? • What type of printer and material is used to create these models? • What is the most common patient model printed? And the average costs and time to print said model? • Does the hospital have any connections with tissue engineering and bioprinting, or cell therapy? • If yes, which companies are they working alongside and what are the current applications and costs? | |
