Question Number 2: How many requests has your trust made to pharmaceutical companies for access to medicines offered through a company-led ‘compassionate use’ or ‘free of charge’ scheme each year between April 2014 and April 2023? a. How many patients have received treatment with unlicensed medicines obtained this way each year between April 2014 and April 2023? | |
Answer To Question 2: For company-led schemes 20 were taken through the system for Trust approval. A total of 48 patients went on to have treatment with supplies made for an additional <5 patients who were then not treated. | |
Question Number 3: How many requests have clinicians at your trust submitted to pharmaceutical companies for access to an unlicensed medicine to treat patients each year between April 2014 and April 2023, outside of a company-led scheme? a. How many patients have received treatment with unlicensed medicines obtained this way each year between April 2014 and April 2023? | |
Answer To Question 3: There were 7 additional schemes for which clinicians requested information and then the clinician did not make a formal submission to the Trust and patients were not treated. Clinicians may have made additional requests that were not formally reported to our Pharmacy department. It is not possible to collect this information from each Clinician. | |
